Educational Outdoor Learning on the Water

Capt. Ashton’s Kids Boating Safety & Fishing Education program is designed to give students meaningful, real-world learning experiences in a Florida coastal environment. These lessons are created for families seeking educational enrichment through hands-on instruction in boating safety, fishing fundamentals, fish identification, conservation, and marine awareness.

Students learn by seeing, doing, asking questions, practicing skills, and applying what they learn in a live outdoor setting. Each lesson is age-appropriate and can be adapted for beginners or students with previous fishing experience.

Course Focus Areas

Boating Safety

Students are introduced to core boating safety concepts, including safe boarding, life jacket use, seating safety, awareness of surroundings, and onboard safety expectations. Lessons also include weather awareness, emergency preparedness, and the importance of following safety instructions.

Fishing Skills

Students receive guided instruction in beginner-friendly fishing equipment and techniques. Lessons may include casting practice, bait presentation, retrieving, and proper fish handling.

Fish Identification

Students learn to identify common local fish species by observing body shape, color patterns, fins, and habitat.

Conservation & Stewardship

Students learn responsible angling practices, respect for wildlife, and the importance of protecting marine environments.

    •    2-Hour Educational Lesson: $200

    •    4-Hour Educational Lesson: $400

    •    6–8 Hour Educational Lesson: $600

Where do your charters leave from?

All trips depart from Hudson, FL. Specific directions and dock information will be provided once you book.

Do I need a fishing license?

Nope! Your fishing license is included in the charter.

Can I keep the fish I catch?

Yes! As long as it meets Florida Fish & Wildlife regulations. I’ll even clean and bag your catch for you to take home.

What if I’ve never fished before?

That’s no problem at all! Beginners are always welcome—I’ll teach you everything you need to know.

Do you take kids?

Absolutely! Fishing is a family-friendly activity and kids love it.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Safety comes first. If the weather doesn’t allow us to go out, we’ll reschedule your trip or provide a refund.
